Lot 3498A BRITISH M1859 NAVAL CUTLASS BAYONET

A good example of a British M1859 cutlass bayonet for the Navy measuring 33" overall with a plain blade marked with a king's head for Gebruder Weyersberg. This firm is known to have produced arms for Britain as well as America. The blade also has various proof marks on the flat and the spine. Steel hilt with a semi-cupped guard. Steel muzzle ring and spring / slot assembly. Two piece leather grips an a steel mounted scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a pleasing gray patina as does the hilt. Scabbard shows wear and has shrunk just a bit. PROVENANCE: From the PMRB Collection. (02-25853/BF). NON-GUN. $400-600.
